Plan an Incredible Vacation in Punta Cancun

As the most popular area of Cancun’s 14-mile long Hotel Zone, Punta Cancun is a favorite holiday destination for travelers for many reasons. Divers enjoy the world-class Mesoamerican Reef, packed with diverse coral and marine life. Those more interested in sand and surf appreciate Punta Cancun’s sparkling beaches, made even more gorgeous after a recent, extensive recovery project. Punta Cancun is also where you’ll find the hottest restaurants, trendiest clubs, and most appealing shops, whatever your budget.

To make the most of your visit, the Marketing Director at Hyatt Regency Cancun recommends the following list of the best shopping, dining and nightlife in this vibrant resort neighborhood.

Restaurants
  • Cambalache. A slice of country life in the middle of the lively city, Cambalache offers the freshest cuts of beef, prepared Argentine-style. Listen to tango music while dining on traditional dishes, and choose a wine from Cambalache’s special selection.
  • La Joya. La Joya means “the jewel” in Spanish, and the title aptly describes this gem of a Mexican eatery in the heart of the Hotel Zone. Stretched over three levels, La Joya boasts a stunning ambiance and traditional dishes prepared with a creative twist. There’s a separate cigar lounge, as well as live entertainment most evenings.
  • Paloma Bonita. Observe your tacos being prepared on comales (flat griddles) in this energetic restaurant, whose décor emulates several different Mexican regions. The mole sauce is second to none, and tequila lovers will delight in Paloma Bonita’s selection of over 100 types of the liquor. Dine outdoors on the romantic patio.
  • Hanaichi. For authentic, fresh Japanese cuisine, no other restaurant in Cancun compares to Hanachi. Enjoy fresh sushi, sashimi and other delicacies in this light-filled café.
  • Hard Rock Café. Let the good times roll at this iconic restaurant, best-known for its featured collection of rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia and sweeping views of the ocean. Enjoy a harmonious ensemble of international dishes for lunch or dinner.

Bars and Nightclubs
  • Coco Bongo. This famous club can accommodate nearly 2,000 people – all of whom visit to sip cocktails, mingle and groove to a multi-floor mix of rock, dance, salsa, and hip hop music. Resident DJs enhance the festive atmosphere, and a steady calendar of live bands and thrilling performing arts shows add to Coco Bongo’s high-energy environment.
  • The City. With an absolutely staggering 6,000-person capacity and a 1,000,000-watt sound system, The City bills itself as Cancun’s nightlife authority – for good reason. A host of famous singers, DJs and rappers have performed and partied here; guests have a choice of nine bars to quench their thirst, spread out over three floors.
  • Dady’O. For those who enjoy parties and over-the-top entertainment, Dady’O is the ideal setting. A fixture on the Cancun party scene since the late 80s, this ambitious club is designed to look like a cavern, with dark and mysterious lighting. There’s no cover charge for ladies on Wednesday nights, and a standing bikini contest on Thursdays.
  • Señor Frogs. Leap into the lively scene at Señor Frogs, complete with its own waterslide. Easily one of the most famous nightlife spots in Punta Cancun, this daytime restaurant transforms into a boisterous dance club at night.
  • Bulldog Cafe. Revel in the party scene at Bulldog Cafe, where you’ll find different types of live entertainment every night – ranging from the bar’s own band and DJs to wrestling shows and bikini contests.

Shopping
  • Plaza Forum by the Sea. Home to over 75 shops, restaurants and clubs (including the aforementioned Coco Bongo), this three-floor entertainment center on the ocean is a pleasant spot to buy arts and crafts, jewelry, and other items by which to remember your trip to Cancun.
  • Plaza Caracol. Another vast and varied shopping center, Plaza Caracol offers over 100 shops and boutiques, catering to both the casual shopper and the seasoned bargainer.
  • La Isla Shopping Village. Located on the banks of the Nichupte Lagoon, La Isla Shopping Village is far more than just a shopping a mall. In addition to high-end boutiques, this airy plaza offers an interactive aquarium, a movie theater, a family entertainment center, and more.
  • Kukulcan Plaza and Luxury Avenue. Look no further for the most exclusive shops in Cancun. These gleaming malls, located adjacent to one another, boast famous brands like Cartier, Louis Vuitton and Ferragamo.
